Home Services Treatment Highlights Referral & Admissions About Us

The treatment of adolescent sex offenders is a specialty and it should be entrusted to experts who have a demonstrated track record of success in the field. Effective treatment can be utilized as a technique to reduce recidivism, protect the community, and provide care to the family of the offender. Mathom House's impressive success rate represents significant savings over the rising human and financial costs of re-offending.

Mathom House believes that the most effective approach to treatment is one that coordinates closely with the needs of busy social service and criminal justice professionals.

This commitment is evidenced in the ability of our screening team to screen an applicant in or out in 48 hours and conduct interviews at times and locations convenient to you.

Mathom House's emergency discharge policy is equally as responsive. In most cases when such a discharge is necessary, Mathom can maintain the client for at least 30 days while a new treatment plan is formulated.

The first reaction of many parents who learn that their child has molested is disbelief, and they often question the need for placement. Mathom House recognizes the utility of establishing a positive working relationship with parents from the start and embraces a comprehensive family oriented approach that involves family members in treatment.

A Parents Support Group combines an opportunity for parents to share their individual experiences and gain support with educational sessions focusing on limit setting, anger management, and sex offender behavior.

We are proud of our commitment to providing quality treatment in line with the best practices in our field, and our commitment to becoming a world-class research & education center. Mathom House succeeds at mending the lives and spirits of its residents making it possible to reunite families.

Mathom House, a division of Edison Court Inc., located in the heart of Bucks County Pennsylvania, is a non-profit residential treatment facility dedicated exclusively to the treatment of juvenile sex offenders, a population that is traditionally hard to place.

Mathom House residents are males ranging in age from 13 to 18 at admission. They have committed offenses ranging from indecent exposure to rape and are typically higher functioning adolescents who have usually been the victims of severe neglect at the hands of their primary caretakers and as a result have difficulty trusting adults. They do not however have histories of chronic criminal or institutional violence.

The Mathom House Unified Treatment Model includes unprecedented cooperation between social service and criminal justice agencies. Mathom House also provides clinical services such as intake assessments, Abel assessments, polygraph assessments, plethysmograph screening, group and individual therapy, family therapy, outpatient counseling, and discharge planning.

Mathom House has pioneered the treatment of Juvenile sex offenders and has taken a leadership role in the establishment of a Pennsylvania chapter of the prestigious Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA).

Treatment consists of an integrated individualized approach combining residential, educational, and clinical components. Our treatment staff is highly trained and motivated and it enjoys a turn over rate that is well below the national average. It includes doctoral level licensed psychologists, licensed professional therapists, a criminologist and several masters level certified licensed counselors & social workers.
